Beneath the deeply textured and worn surface, rows of tiny impressions still circle this vessel’s shoulders. Someone pressed them into the clay while it was soft, decorating a pot whose beauty we’re still appreciating long after it left their hands. Rust-red clay shows through around the mouth and handles, warming the deep brown and charcoal patina of the body.
We love it against pale stone, with a few old books nearby. Left empty, its rounded form and richly textured surface are enough to hold that corner of a room.
