This vintage round wooden chapati riser from India was traditionally used in Indian kitchens as a raised platform for preparing and serving chapati (also called roti), the daily flatbread central to Indian meals. Known as a chakla, these round boards were used for rolling dough, while elevated versions like this helped keep bread clean, off the ground, and protected during cooking and serving.

Hand-carved from solid wood, this piece carries the natural wear, patina, and imperfections that only decades of use can create. The low pedestal form gives it sculptural presence, making it equally functional as a riser for styling. The feet give it a charming detail.

Approximate Dimensions: 11.25โ€ Diameter, 1.75โ€H

Today, it works beautifully as:
โ€“ A riser for candles or pottery
โ€“ A pedestal for seasonal decor
โ€“ A kitchen counter accent
โ€“ A coffee table styling element
โ€“ A small plant stand

The aged wood grain and organic form make it ideal for wabi sabi, rustic, primitive, or collected interiors.

Each vintage piece will show variation in tone, texture, and age marks, part of its authenticity and charm. The surface may not be completely even, however it still holds kitchen essentials or other vintage decor beautifully and stably.
