Medium Uraltu Vessel I
Medium Uraltu Vessel I
There’s nothing refined or perfect about an Uraltu pot, and that’s why we love them.
These vessels were shaped entirely by hand over a century and a half ago, formed without precision tools or symmetry in mind. No two are alike. The form shifts and is almost subtly off-balance, a testament to the handmade nature. The surfaces are where their history lives; deep terracotta layered with darkened patina, rich browns and near-black tones that have developed slowly over decades of life. The imperfections are proof: chips along the rim, small holes, areas worn thin. These are the marks that distinguish a true antique from anything newly made to imitate it.
Though smaller in size, they carry a visual weight that grounds a space. Styled on a shelf, layered into a vignette, or our personal way to style; placed on a coffee table among softer elements, they bring depth and grounding, something that newer pieces can’t replicate.
Uraltu pots are no longer abundant. Their value reflects that rarity, but more than that, it reflects the impossibility of recreating them. We can’t help but love these pieces that have already lived many lives before arriving in yours.
