We may have gasped out loud pulling this piece from the container. This old Anatolian storage jar with the most beautiful shape: a generous rounded body, a narrow foot, and a dark glazed shoulder that catches the light. Below it, the clay has weathered into layers of smoky brown, charcoal, and soft grey. Once a kitchen workhorse, it’s now the kind of piece we’d give a table all to itself. Maybe a branch or two, if we could bear to cover any of it.
