In Granada, Spain, pottery was made for the everyday table and painted as though it were something far more precious. This antique Fajalauza plate carries that tradition: an intricate hand painted pomegranate at its center, flowers growing around it, and a terracotta edge worn bare in places.
It may once have held something at the table. Now we love it beneath a candle, a small vessel, or used as a stovetop riser in the kitchen. It could just as easily rest upright on a backsplash or console table, or even added to wall as a decorative plate.
